Zentel Tablet: Treat Various Parasitic Worm Infections

Zentel Tablet UK is a widely prescribed anthelmintic medicine whose active ingredient is albendazole, a powerful anti-parasitic drug used to treat a variety of worm infections in the human body. It belongs to a class of medications that work by disrupting the metabolism of parasitic worms, ultimately leading to their death and elimination from the body.

Zentel is primarily indicated for the treatment of intestinal and tissue parasitic infections. It effectively combats common intestinal worms such as roundworms (ascariasis), hookworms, whipworms, pinworms, and threadworms. It’s also used for more complex infections like neurocysticercosis (caused by pork tapeworm larvae), hydatid disease (from dog tapeworms), and other systemic helminth infections.

The way Zentel works is by inhibiting tubulin polymerization in parasites, which blocks their ability to absorb nutrients—particularly glucose. Without energy, the worms become immobilized and die, allowing the body to clear the infection.

Zentel is used in both adults and children (above certain ages), but the exact dose and duration depend on the specific infection and doctor’s guidance. For most routine worm infections, a single dose or short course is often effective, while more serious tissue infections may require a longer treatment regimen under medical supervision.

Like all medicines, Zentel can have side effects. Some people may experience nausea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, or changes in liver function tests. Most of these are mild and temporary, but patients should consult a physician if they persist or worsen.

Because albendazole can affect liver enzymes and other systems, it should only be taken with a doctor’s prescription, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before use.
