Introducing the New De Bethune DB25xs Sandstorm
The slim, compact, and classic DB25xs watch returns with a sand-colored heat-treated dial adorned with random guilloché patterns.
As one of today's most distinctive independent watchmaking brands, De Bethune watches are highly recognizable. Its signature aesthetic elements, meticulously crafted by master watchmaker and co-founder Denis Flageollet, include heat-treated titanium components and random guilloché patterns. In stark contrast to the more futuristic and flagship DB28 series, the DB25 series, launched in 2007, is more classic, also featuring a round drum-shaped case and hollow bullet-shaped lugs. The DBxs series, a "miniature" sibling of the DB25, debuts in 2025 and has been chosen as the latest model, featuring a beautiful yellow heat-treated titanium dial decorated with random guilloché patterns, resembling ripples on sand dunes.
The discovery of De Bethune's signature vibrant titanium components in this process, which the brand calls "color oxidation art," was purely accidental. At the time, Flageollet was experimenting in the laboratory with stabilizing a titanium balance wheel using the same treatment as blued steel. However, as the temperature rose, the titanium surface began to change color: amber at low temperatures, then purple, and finally a bright blue at high temperatures.
